The Alien Hunters DLC has a story mission, the Nest, that introduces the Alien Rulers to the campaign. I have played 2 Legend Ironman campaigns so far, where I have played the Nest mission. I believe the Alien Rulers are the same strength (at least HP-wise) if you reveal them earlier as opposed to later.
